Big Game Focus: Manchester City v Liverpool

Manchester City v Liverpool

The top two sides in the Premier League come head-to-head at the Etihad on Thursday evening. Manchester City may have lost their title to Liverpool but pride is still at stake. Here is the Big Game Focus on the match. Bet on Manchester City v Liverpool here.

Jurgen Klopp takes his Premier League winning side to the Etihad on Thursday night, in a match that will see Manchester City and Pep Guardiola give the Reds a guard of honour to acknowledge their achievements.

That will be painful for Guardiola and his charges, but such is the consequence of their defeat away to Chelsea in their last league match.

Despite this game being somewhat of a dead rubber now that the title is heading to Anfield for the first time ever in the Premier League era, City will still want to prove their worth. They haven’t lost at home since December and will not want to make a habit of losing to top opposition.

Liverpool went back to winning ways after they confidently dispatched Crystal Palace 4-0 in their last game. However, could there be a hangover from celebrating their first league title in 30 years? Time will tell.

Betting Preview

Few eyebrows will be raised when finding out that Both Teams to Score was a winning bet in four of the past five meetings. With such attacking talent on both sides, we expect goals at both ends again. Odds on this are 1.50.

Slightly more surprising is the fact that Liverpool have not scored in four away games in a row, in all competitions. The last time the Reds netted more than once on the road was six games ago at West Ham. You can get 1.60 on Under 1.5 Liverpool Goals.

Since the restart, Kevin De Bruyne has scored three goals in four games. He is pushing to be named PFA Player of the Year, so what better game to prove he’s the best player in the league? Odds of 3.65 are available for the Belgian to score at any time.

Team news

City will have to do the business without Sergio Aguero who is injured. Fernandinho will serve the final game of his ban after a ridiculous red card at Stamford Bridge.

Liverpool have no such concerns but James Milner and Trent Alexander-Arnold are both one yellow card away from a ban.
