Big Game Focus: Wales v Hungary

Wales will be looking to secure their spot at Euro 2020 when they face Hungary on Tuesday in a must-win encounter. Both these teams head into their final Euro 2020 qualifier knowing whoever wins tonight will finish second in the group and seal their place in Euro 2020. Here’s the Big Game Focus. Bet on the game here.

Wales face a difficult Hungary side in a winner-takes-all 2020 qualifier tonight. However, Ryan Giggs’ men go into the game in the knowledge that they are guaranteed a play-off spot next March if they fail to qualify automatically with a win tonight. The Welshmen are unbeaten since they lost to Hungary in June and with their solid home record, they will be going for it tonight.

Hungary, on the other hand, will qualify if they beat Wales or if they draw and Slovakia fails to beat Azerbaijan. Therefore, this match will have huge implications and Marco Rossi’s side’s poor away form might work against them tonight. They did beat Wales in the reverse fixture, a result which gives them confidence that they can upset the hosts. Can they do it?

Betting preview

The hosts have won four of their last five here, and were only denied a fifth win by 2018 World Cup finalists Croatia. Meanwhile, Hungary have lost four of their last five outings. Therefore, you can back a Home Win at odds of 1.60.

Five of Wales’ last seven games in the Euro qualifiers have seen Under 2.5 Goals. Hungary’s last game saw them win 1-0. Five of their last nine away games in European qualifiers have seen two or fewer goals scored. Taking into account the stakes of this game, a cagey affair is in the cards. You can back Under 2.5 Goals at odds of 1.60.

At least one team has not scored in the last two matches between these two. In Wales’ last six home games in Euro qualifiers, at least one team has not scored in four. Hungary have not scored in two of their last three away matches in the qualifiers. For that reason, you can back Both Teams to Score No at odds of 1.60.

Team news

Wales have called up Aberdeen winger Ryan Hedges for the visit of Hungary. Ryan Giggs is hoping to start key duo Gareth Bale and Aaron Ramsey.

Hungary will be without Zsolt Kalmar for their trip to Wales as the midfielder picked up an injury in the friendly against Uruguay. David Holman should play in his position. RB Leipzig goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi is expected to return in goal after being rested on Friday.
