Champions League (7-8th March): Can PSG turn things around at the Allianz Arena?

The Champions League returns to action this week, with Paris Saint-Germain attempting to overturn a 1-0 deficit when they face Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday evening.

Elsewhere, English sides Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea also both trail 1-0 to AC Milan and Borussia Dortmund respectively, but they will feel confident of progressing on home territory.

Benfica look the surest bet to make it through to the quarter-finals having beaten Belgian champions Club Brugge 2-0 away from home in the first leg, but as we have seen on countless occasions over the years, the Champions League often has a surprise or two up its sleeve!

Here at PremierBet, we have several fantastic offers for new and existing customers to get stuck into across the course of the week’s action, including a special Live Bet & Get offer on Chelsea v Dortmund! Bayern Munich v PSG (Wednesday 20:00 GMT)

Wednesday’s second leg in Munich will be the fifth time these two clubs have met within the last three years, with each of the last three matches seeing the away team win.

As such, PSG will possess plenty of belief that they can turn the tie around, especially with Kylian Mbappe fully fit once again. The France forward’s hamstring issue meant he was only fit enough to appear from the bench at Parc des Princes, but he made an instant impact by having a goal disallowed for an exceptionally tight offside call.

Bayern have looked more vulnerable to opposition through balls without Manuel Neuer sweeping up in behind. His replacement Yann Sommer averages around half as many defensive actions outside of his penalty area, with Benjamin Pavard and Dayot Upamecano both sent off in these situations in recent weeks.

When coming up against a player with Mbappe’s searing pace, that spells danger, especially with Lionel Messi feeding him. The superstars scored 15 goals between them at the recent World Cup in Qatar, and they have combined for seven goals and three assists in the two-and-a-half matches since Neymar’s ankle injury, which will rule the Brazilian out of this match.

In a match which could feasibly swing either way, backing Mbappe to score anytime at odds of 2.34 looks to be the best bet. He’s a man for the big occasion and should be full of confidence after becoming PSG’s all-time record goalscorer at the weekend at the age of only 24.
