Liverpool have been crowned European champions for the sixth time following goals from Mo Salah and Divock Origi to hand them a 2-0 win over Tottenham in the Champions League final in Madrid.  Bet on football here.

The Reds had been considered huge favourites and it only took 22 seconds for them to take control of the match. Sadio Mane’s ball brushed on Moussa Sissoko’s hand for the ref to point at the penalty spot and Salah slumped it in through the middle.

Tottenham tried to get back on the game on several occasions but the Liverpool were determined to protect their advantage.

Late in the second half Divock Origi, whose two-goal heroics ensured they beat Barcelona to the final scored a second to calm Liverpool fans nerves.

Mauricio Pochettino will be proud of the efforts of his players but it seems he will have to wait longer to lift silverware with this Spurs side.

To many, this was a deserved win for Jurgen Klopp and his men especially after finishing second to Manchester City in the Premier League by just a point.

The role of VAR was definitely a highlight as the penalty award came after a brief check to the Video Assistant Referee. Whilst this was happening Salah, was enjoying the moment having been forced out of last season’s final against Real Madrid early on with a shoulder injury.

Tottenham had more of the possession but could not make the final pass. Though play opened up after the break, with James Milner’s low drive missing by a whisker following brilliant effort from Mane in the 69th minute. Spurs became more ambitious after 70 minutes but their hopes were dashed three minutes from time as Origi found the bottom right corner with a fine left-footed drive.

Liverpool have now won 46% of the total European Cup wins by English clubs six out of 13, and twice as many as any other English side next are Man United who have won three
