Proudly African Q&A

What makes you proud to be Cameroonian/African?

What makes me proud to be African and especially Cameroonian is our ability to overcome challenges. To cling to a glimmer of joy in a cloud of misfortune. I think that’s something unique to us. We have that strength, that tenacity… and that’s recognized in us.

What is your favorite Cameroonian dish?

My favorite dish in Cameroon… it’s hard to choose. There’s Water fufu and eru, sweet Okok. I think sweet Okok comes first,  Water fufu and eru.
And definitely the Ndolé, which is Cameroon’s signature dish. Those are my favorite meals.

What is your favorite place in Cameroon?

My favorite place in Cameroon remains Batié, the land of my ancestors.
It’s the land that saw me born and grow up—it’s part of me… and that’s it.
It’s my favorite place. I couldn’t choose another, even though I love all of Cameroon, its landscapes, and culture… I prefer Batié.

What is your favorite sport, team, or player?

I love MMA. I’m a fan of boxing, but especially MMA.
I’m a fan of MMA, not just for the fighting aspect, but for its philosophy. Because it’s a very intelligent sport. A sport where you have to be able to bring your opponent onto your playing field.
And it’s up to each fighter to take the other into their own territory. So if I had to choose a favorite sport today—unlike 10 years ago—I’d say it’s MMA.

Of course, I also love football. My favorite team is the Indomitable Lions!
And when it comes to the European league, I’ve followed Real Madrid a bit, also Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain—which recently won the Champions League, very well-deserved!
My favorites players are Cristiano Ronaldo, Kylian Mbappé and my favorite goalkeeper is Onana.

What has been your proudest moment so far?

My proudest moment in life… I couldn’t say exactly which one, but I think it all comes down to that moment when I decided to no longer be a victim of life—of my life. To take control.
It happened through a series of small events that added up and had a common thread.

That decision, that initiative, that refusal to be a victim and instead be the author of my own life. I decided my future—and that is my greatest pride.

And above all, to never give up, never abandon, always keep moving forward despite the obstacles.

What is your goal for the future?

My goal for the future now—I can’t really say it’s sports anymore, because I only have a few years left.

But I still want to do something big. Explore another field. When I say that, I’m especially thinking of business and entrepreneurship. That’s a sector that has always intrigued me, and I’ve been involved in it for a few years now. I’m learning and trying to grow in it—I’ll do whatever it takes to succeed in that field.
