Check out my tips for the weekend. You can bet on these matches and others in Europe’s biggest leagues here.
AC Milan 1 v 1 Inter Milan – Saturday 21 September – Serie A – Under 2.5 Goals (1.75)
The big games in Serie A keep coming, the latest of which being the Milan derby. AC Milan have come to life after they lost their opening game, with two wins since then. Their games have all been cagey, with just one goal in each of them. Rivals Inter are top of Serie A. However, they drew with Slavia Prague on Tuesday in the Champions League, a result which came after they could only win 1-0 against ten-man Udinese. The Nerazzurri have won three of their last five matches against AC Milan, but I think this will be a Draw.
West Ham 1 v 1 Man United – Sunday 22 September – Premier League – Both Teams to Score (1.55)
West Ham’s 0-0 draw with Aston Villa on Monday night leaves them on eight points in the Premier League, with only one defeat to date. Visitors Manchester United have their exact same record at this stage. They have won three of their last five games against the Irons but they haven’t managed an away win so far this season. In fact, they haven’t beaten anyone away from home since February. I think this will be another 1-1 draw for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side. I’m also backing Both Teams to Score, which happened in both of these teams’ meetings last season.
Chelsea 1 v 2 Liverpool – Sunday 22 September – Premier League – Both Teams to Score (1.50)
Both of these teams lost on Tuesday night in the Champions League and another bad result could mean the start of a dreaded “slump”. That defeat to Valencia on Tuesday means that Chelsea still haven’t won at home this season. Liverpool, meanwhile, are top of the table with 14 straight wins in the Premier League. They drew with Chelsea in the UEFA Super Cup a month ago before triumphing on penalties and I think that this time they can beat them in 90 minutes. My Match Tip is Both Teams to Score, which has been a winning bet in four out of five league games for both sides. It’s also happened in seven of their last ten meetings.
Lyon 1 v 2 PSG – Sunday 22 September – Ligue 1 – Over 2.5 Goals (1.40)
Lyon have hit a patch of poor form with no wins in four games now. The last of those was a 1-1 draw at home to Zenit St. Petersburg in the Champions League, which means they face an uphill struggle in their group. PSG started their European campaign with a 3-0 win against Real Madrid in which they were very impressive. They sit top of the Ligue 1 table and have won four games in a row in all competitions. They have also won seven of their last ten games against Lyon. I’m backing an Away Win this time, and I expect plenty of goals.
Sevilla 2 v 1 Real Madrid – Sunday 22 September – La Liga – Over 2.5 Goals (1.50)
Sevilla start this weekend top of La Liga with ten points from a possible twelve. They could be somewhat tired for this game after they played at Qarabag on Thursday night. However, Real Madrid had a bad time in midweek. They were comfortably beaten by PSG and questions are being asked of Zinedine Zidane’s tactics. They could only draw with Villarreal in their last away league game and have lost on all of their last four visits to Sevilla in the league. I see a Home Win here. I also expect Over 2.5 Goals, which has happened in 17 of the last 20 meetings between these sides.
