Four of my five Match Tips were correct over the weekend, and I picked the correct winning team in three of the games. Click here to bet on the AFCON.
Cameroon 2 v 1 Guinea-Bissau – Tuesday 25 June – AFCON 2019 – Cameroon Win (1.55)
Reigning champions Cameroon are having a tough time right now. They have arrived in Egypt late and aren’t in great form, with two wins in their last five games. However, they start with a relatively straightforward game against Guinea-Bissau, who have conceded in nine of their last ten games. Cameroon beat them 2-1 two years ago and I’m going for the same score this time.
Ghana 2 v 0 Benin – Tuesday 25 June – AFCON 2019 – Under 2.5 Goals (1.55)
I don’t expect many goals here. There have been Under 2.5 Goals in eight of Ghana’s last ten games, and it was the same in five of their six games at the 2017 AFCON. Benin have won three of their last four games, but they’ve lost eight of their nine AFCON matches in their history. I have to go for a Black Stars win here, but I can’t see it being a big score line.
Nigeria 2 v 1 Guinea – Wednesday 26 June – AFCON 2019 – Both Teams to Score (2.20)
Nigeria struggled to beat Burundi but victory here will see them through to the next round. They are in better form than Guinea, who haven’t won any of their last six games. I’m going for Both Teams to Score, which has happened in three of Guinea’s last five games. I think Nigeria will win but considering their shaky defence against Burundi, I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Syli score.
Senegal 2 v 2 Algeria – Thursday 26 June – AFCON 2019 – Both Teams to Score (2.00)
This is realistically the game to decide top spot in Group C. Both teams are in good form and started their campaign with a 2-0 win. Senegal have now won seven games in a row and haven’t lost any of their last five AFCON matches in 90 minutes. Their last defeat was at AFCON 2015 against Algeria, but they drew 2-2 when they met in Gabon two years ago. Algeria are unbeaten in their last six games, so the sensible bet for me is a Draw.
Kenya 1 v 0 Tanzania – Thursday 26 June – AFCON 2019 – Under 2.5 Goals (1.55)
I expect a close game here. Kenya have only suffered two defeats in the last year, which were against Ghana and Algeria. Tanzania have lost three of their last five games and I think that their lack of experience might cost them. There have been Under 2.5 Goals in four out of five games for both sides, and I’m going for the same bet this time. I just feel that the Harambee Stars will take the points.
