Domestic football is back. I had a good run over the international break and I’m really looking forward to these games! If you like any of these tips, click here.
Liverpool 3 v 0 Newcastle – Saturday 14 September – Premier League – Liverpool Win with 0:1 Handicap (1.45)
It’s going well for Jurgen Klopp’s side at the moment. They are top of the Premier League and are on a run of 13 straight wins in the competition. It’s hard to see them dropping points at the moment, let alone at Anfield against a team with only one win so far this season. Since they beat Tottenham last month, Newcastle have failed to pick up another win. They have lost by at least two goals on each of their last two visits to Anfield, while the Reds have won three of their four league games this season on the handicap. I expect the same here.
Fiorentina 0 v 2 Juventus – Saturday 14 September – Serie A – Juventus Win (1.70)
Defeat to Genoa before the international break means that Fiorentina have now gone 16 games without a win in Serie A. What’s more, they have not won at home in the league since 2018. They’ve lost both of their league games so far this season and I don’t think things will improve this time. Juventus have a 100% record so far and will go top of the table with a win (at least until Inter play later in the day). They have also won nine of their last ten games against the Viola, including a 3-0 win at this ground last season. I’m going for another Away Win this time.
RB Leipzig 2 v 2 Bayern Munich – Saturday 14 September – Bundesliga – Over 2.5 Goals (1.40)
This is the big game of the weekend. New manager Julien Nagelsmann has taken RB Leipzig to the top of the Bundesliga as the only team with three wins out of three so far. They’ve scored nine goals across those matches, with Timo Werner responsible for five of those. He’s not leading the scoring charts, though. Robert Lewandowski has scored six for Bayern, who are second in the league. Considering both teams’ form, it makes sense to back Over 2.5 Goals. These sides drew here in May before Bayern brushed Leipzig aside in the DFB Pokal final in a 3-0 win. However, the champions have only won two of their last five away games in the Bundesliga. I’m taking a risk and will back a Draw.
Watford 1 v 2 Arsenal – Sunday 14 September – Premier League – Both Teams to Score (1.55)
Big changes have been made at Watford over the international break, as Javi Gracia departed to be replaced by former manager Quique Sanchez Flores. He takes over a team that currently sits bottom of the table with one point from four matches. Worse still, they haven’t won any of their last six league games at Vicarage Road. Arsenal are fifth, having won their first two games before losing to Liverpool and drawing with Spurs. They have only kept two clean sheets in their last 20 away league games, but they have won three in a row against the Hornets. I see a narrow Away Win.
AS Monaco 1 v 2 Marseille – Sunday 14 September – Ligue 1 – Over 2.5 Goals (1.80)
It’s not been a great start for AS Monaco, who are 19th in Ligue 1 following two draws and two defeats to date. Several first team players are missing through either injury or suspension, and their first test following the international break is against old rivals Marseille. The visitors have won their last two league games and are unbeaten in their last five away from home. I’m going for an Away Win, and I expect a few goals too. All of Monaco’s four games this season seen Over 2.5 Goals, as have nine of their last ten matches against Marseille, who won 3-2 here last September.
