Mr. Predictor's guide to the AFCON and Copa America matches

The group phase of the AFCON is nearly over and places in the next round are still up for grabs! You can read my thoughts below, as well as my tips for the Copa America semi-finals. Click here to bet.

Benin 1 v 2 Cameroon – Tuesday 2 July – AFCON 2019 – Cameroon Win (1.80)

Cameroon are top of Group F and only need a draw to be certain of a place in the last 16. The reigning champions have only lost one of their last ten games at the AFCON, so history is on their side. Benin will go through to the next round with a win, but they’ve drawn both of their games so far. I’m backing the Lions to win this time and finish top of the group.

Guinea-Bissau 0 v 1 Ghana – Tuesday 2 July – AFCON 2019 – Both Teams to Score No (1.40)

The Black Stars have drawn both of their games at the AFCON 2019 and have to match or better Benin’s result tonight. Luckily for them, Guinea-Bissau haven’t scored a goal in either of their games and have never won a single match at the AFCON. Ghana have been underwhelming so far, but I think that their defence and attack will be too strong here.

Angola 1 v 2 Mali – Tuesday 2 July – AFCON 2019 – Over 1.5 Goals (1.55)

This is a massive opportunity for Mali, who are top of Group E and will seal first place with victory. It won’ be easy, though. Angola are unbeaten in their last five matches and proved against Tunisia that they can get a result against bigger teams. I’ve been very impressed by Mali’s attack so far, however, and I think that they will keep a tight grip on their standing in the group.

Brazil 2 v 0 Argentina – Tuesday 2 July – Copa America – Both Teams to Score No (1.70)

What a game we have in store! Host nation Brazil are one game from the final and their old enemies stand in their way. Argentina have reached the final in the last two tournaments, but they’ve been inconsistent so far with two wins from four games. Brazil, on the other hand, are in good form. They have not conceded a single goal in their last six games and have beaten Argentina in three of their last five meetings. I’m going for another Home Win here.

Chile 1 v 0 Peru – Wednesday 3 July – Copa America – Under 2.5 Goals (1.45)

Both of these teams reached the semi-final thanks to a penalty shootout, and I expect another close affair. Chile have been champions at the last two Copa America tournaments and have won three of their last five games. In contrast, Peru have failed to score in four of their last five matches. I can see them having similar problems here, so I’m going for Chile to win.
