Hi gang! It’s the first weekend at AFCON and I’m really excited. Click here to bet on my tips.
DR Congo 0 v 0 Uganda – Saturday 22 June – AFCON 2019 – Under 2.5 Goals (1.60)
The Leopards have not lost any of their last five games, but four of those have been draws. In fact, they’ve drawn nine of their last 15 games overall. Uganda were immense in qualifying and they beat the Ivory Coast on Saturday with a typically resilient performance. That said, I get the feeling that they’ll find it tough here, so I’m going for another Draw.
Nigeria 2 v 0 Burundi – Saturday 22 June – AFCON 2019 – Both Teams to Score No (1.40)
I think Nigeria have been given a kind draw in Group B and I expect them to start the tournament with a win. They were good in qualifying and, although they’ve only won two of their last five games, that’s one more than Burundi have managed. Burundi didn’t lose in qualifying but they won just two matches. I see a win for the Super Eagles.
Guinea 1 v 0 Madagascar – Saturday 22 June – AFCON 2019 – Guinea Win (1.55)
This is a big game for Guinea. In theory this should be an easy game for the Syli, but they haven’t won any of their last five matches. Luckily for them, Madagascar have lost four of their last five matches. This is also their first time at AFCON, so it’s tough to know whether they’ll be ready for the occasion. I think a Guinea win is a good bet.
Senegal 1 v 0 Tanzania – Sunday 23 June – AFCON 2019 – Both Teams to Score No (1.45)
The big news for Senegal is that Sadio Mane will be suspended for this game, which is huge bonus for Tanzania. The Taifa Stars played well against Egypt in a recent friendly but followed it up with a draw against Zimbabwe. Senegal, on the other hand, have won six games in a row and only conceded once in their last five games. I’m going to back the Lions here, but it won’t be easy without Mane.
Algeria 2 v 0 Kenya – Sunday 23 June – AFCON 2019 – Under 2.5 Goals (1.70)
The Harambee Stars have lost just one of their last five games but haven’t tested themselves against particularly tough opposition, which is a problem. Algeria were dreadful in Gabon two years ago and have to avoid a poor start here. They are unbeaten in their last six matches overall though, so I’m going to back them to get three points here. Under 2.5 Goals is a good bet too.
