Mr. Predictor's guide to the AFCON semi finals this Sunday

Hi gang! There are four very strong teams in the AFCON semi finals, and I expect some interesting games. I’m also looking at some big games in the Brasilian Serie A if you some tips for Saturday. You can bet here.

Senegal 2 v 0 Tunisia – Sunday 14 July – AFCON 2019 – Senegal Win and Under 3.5 Goals (2.50)

Senegal have won four of their five games so far at the AFCON. Crucially, they’re looking organised in defence, having only conceded two goals in their last ten games. Tunisia finally won a game in 90 minutes when they easily beat Madagascar on Thursday. I think that they will be low on energy here, though. They played extra time against Ghana on Monday and have had one fewer day to rest than the Lions of Teranaga. Senegal beat Tunisia 2-0 at the 2017 AFCON and I can see the same here.

Algeria 1 v 1 Nigeria – Sunday 14 July – AFCON 2019 – 2nd Half With Most Goals (2.15)

It’s now 11 games unbeaten for Algeria after they beat the Ivory Coast on penalties. However, star man Riyad Mahrez went off injured in that game, and they have to now face Nigeria, who have had an extra day to rest and prepare. The Super Eagles have won four of their last five games. They also have had the upper hand against the Desert Lions in recent years, winning four of the last five meetings. I think this could go to extra time.

Fortaleza 1 v 0 Avai – Saturday 13 July – Serie A – Fortaleza Win and Under 2.5 Goals (3.20)

Both of these teams were promoted at the start of the season, but they’re having very different experiences of life in the Serie A. Fortaleza have taken seven points from their four home games but Avai are bottom of the table with just four points overall. When these teams met last year, Fortaleza won one game and the two teams drew the other. I’m going for a Home Win here.

Gremio 1 v 0 Vasco da Gama – Saturday 13 July – Serie A – Under 2.5 Goals (1.65)

Gremio are becoming experts of the 1-0 win. It’s happened in three of their last four games in the Serie A. Vasco da Gama are just two points behind them, but they have only won one of their last 23 away league games. The last four games between these sides have ended in a Home Win, and four of the last five have has Under 2.5 Goals. Another 1-0 win for Gremio looks likely, then.

Bahia 1 v 1 Santos – Saturday 13 July – Serie A – Double Chance Bahia (1.45)

The contrast between Bahia’s home and away form in Serie A is incredible. They haven’t won any of their away games, but they have a 100% home record. Santos are second and are in better form overall. However, they’ve only won two of their four away league games so far this season, scoring three times. Bahia have won their last two home games against Santos, and I think they’ll avoid defeat here.

Sao Paulo 0 v 1 Palmeiras – Saturday 13 July – Serie A – Palmeiras Win (2.65)

Palmeiras are top of Serie A and haven’t lost any of their last 32 league games, a run that stretches back for almost a year. They’ve also won eight of their nine matches this season, too, including each of the last three away from home. Sao Paulo are winless in their last five league games and have lost four of their last five games against Palmerias in Serie A. The visitors are the reigning champions and it makes sense to go for an Away Win here.

Flamengo 2 v 1 Goais – Sunday 14 July – Serie A – Flamengo Win (1.30)

Considering that this is their first season in the Serie A since 2013, Goais have been impressive. They’re sixth in the table and have played one game fewer than most of the other sides. They would go above Flamengo with a win, but I don’t believe they’ll do it. The hosts have won all four of their home games in Serie A this season, while Goais have lost two out of three away. I see a Home Win.
