International football continues this weekend, with lots of juicy fixtures in AFCON qualifying. Here are my tips for the weekend.
England v Spain – Saturday 8 September – Nations League – BET HERE
England play their first game since a solid display at the World Cup, where they got to the semi-finals. They are unbeaten on home soil for two years and have not lost a competitive home game since 2007. Spain are now under the guidance of former Barcelona manager Luis Enrique and his task is to repair the team after a poor showing in Russia. They have drawn three of their last five games and drew 2-2 with England back in 2016. I can see another draw today.
Match Tip: Under 2.5 Goals
Mr. Predictor’s Verdict: England 1 v 1 Spain
Kenya v Ghana – Saturday 8 September – AFCON Qualification – BET HERE<
Kenya’s recent form is not too bad, with three wins and two defeats in their last five games. However, they have lost three out of their last five AFCON qualifying games, as the big tournaments continue to elude them. The Black Stars meanwhile have won seven of their last ten qualifiers, and I expect another victory today.
Match Tip: Both Teams to Score No
Mr. Predictor’s Verdict: Kenya 0 v 1 Ghana
Uganda v Tanzania – Saturday 8 September – AFCON Qualification – BET HERE<
An East African derby is on the menu today and history is against Tanzania, who have not made the group stage since 1980. They drew their first qualifier with Lesotho, whilst the Cranes beat Cape Verde. Uganda have only won one of their last five matches but I think they will win today in what could be an interesting match-up.
Match Tip: Both Teams to Score
Mr. Predictor’s Verdict: Uganda 2 v 1 Tanzania
Switzerland v Iceland – Saturday 8 September – Nations League – BET HERE<
The Swiss were another side who will be happy with their showing in Russia, as they managed to make it to the last 16. They are impressive at home, with four wins and zero defeats in their last five. Iceland only managed one point at the World Cup, but they were in a tough group and have shown serious progression over the past few years. I think Switzerland will win a tight game.
Match Tip: Both Teams to Score No
Mr. Predictor’s Verdict: Switzerland 1 v 0 Iceland
Liberia v DR Congo – Sunday 9 September – AFCON Qualification<
The Lone Stars have not been to AFCON since 2002, and considering they lost their first qualifier 3-0 to Zimbabwe, things do not look like improving here. DR Congo have won seven of their last ten qualifiers, which includes the last five in a row. You always feel that something big is around the corner with DR Congo and maybe this will be their year. I certainly see them winning today.
Match Tip: DR Congo Win
Mr. Predictor’s Verdict: Liberia 0 v 3 DR Congo
