As 24 teams prepare to slog it out over the course of ten months, history suggests that the top scorer will have a big say in the race for promotion from the Championship. Today we will have a look at the top five likely players to compete for the bragging rights. Bet on Football here.

Alexander Mitrovic –  Fulham – 7.00

Fulham somehow managed to sign Alexander Mitrovic to a new deal this summer despite links to the Chinese Super League brewing. He has been one of their most reliable players both in the Premier League and the Championship. This will be a good season for the Serbian international with Tom Cairney and Anthony Knockaert flanking him. This could be the season that he dominates the Championship after his 12 goals helped Fulham get to the Premier League in the 2017/18 season. He is favoured to win the Golden Boot in our website at odds of 7.00.

Maupey Neal – Brentford – 12.25

Maupay Neal scored 25 goals in the Championship last season despite Brentford’s struggles as they failed to get into the playoffs. This has led to rumours that he could be on his way out of the club. The 22-year-old is a France youth international and, if he continues on this trajectory,  then he could bag even more goals. Our website have him at odds of 12.25 to lift the Golden Boot and that could very well happen if he does not change loyalties.

Patrick Bamford – Leed United – 16.25

Patrick Bamford has failed to live up to his full potential and he could be classified as one of those players who are very good in the Championship but not Premier League material. The former Chelsea youngster will be desperate to show his doubters he is good enough for the top flight. He has been stable for some time now and that should give him the drive to prove himself in the coming months. Odds of 16.25 look really attractive for him to end the season with the goalscoring bragging rights.

Karlan Grant – Huddersfield – 16.50

Karlan Grant moved to Huddersfield from Charlton in the January transfer window in a move that took many by surprise. The Terriers were seemingly on their way down and the Addicks were on the way up. Now he has an opportunity to prove that the form he displayed in League One and briefly in the Premier League was not by chance.  If he manages a successful season this would have been a brilliant move by Huddersfield.

Lewis Grabban – Nottingham Forest – 18.00

Nottingham Forest endured a tough season last time out as they managed a ninth-placed finish. Roy Keane and Martin O’Neill departed this summer and the Midlands team will be looking for better in the new season. Lewis Grabban was their top scorer after managing to score 16 goals. He has demonstrated that he is very clinical at this level. Provided Sabri Lamouchi can replace Sheffield United-bound Ben Osborn, the 31-year-old could thrive as they struck a good partnership that allowed him the freedom to express himself.
