Premier League Overview (3-5th February)

The Premier League returns to action on Friday 3rd February, with plenty of signings hoping to impress their new managers after Tuesday’s busy transfer deadline day.

On Saturday, top four contenders Man Utd, Newcastle and Brighton will be hoping to strengthen their Champions League qualification credentials with home wins against Crystal Palace, West Ham and Bournemouth respectively.

Elsewhere, Liverpool travel to Wolves, Aston Villa host Leicester and Brentford take on Southampton, before Nottingham Forest face Leeds in Sunday’s early kick-off. We’ve picked out three other key fixtures across the weekend:

Chelsea vs Fulham (Friday 20:00 GMT)

All eyes will be on Chelsea in this west London derby after their heavy January transfer window spending, with Mykhailo Mudryk and Enzo Fernandez both hoping to make their first starts for the Blues after costing the club almost £200m combined.

These two sides faced each other just 22 days prior to this upcoming fixture, with Fulham winning 2-1 at Craven Cottage. They were without their top goalscorer Aleksandar Mitrovic in that match, suggesting they can trouble the Blues once again despite losing their last two league games.

With the result difficult to predict, we are backing Both Teams To Score at 2.00.

Everton vs Arsenal (Saturday 12:30 GMT)

Arsenal have overtaken Man City as outright title favourites, with the Gunners cut to 1.70 to win their first Premier League title in 19 years after beating Man Utd 3-2.

As such, it is little surprise to see the league leaders heavily odds-on to beat Everton, who have lost six of their last seven league games to fall into the relegation zone.

However, the Toffees have appointed former Burnley boss Sean Dyche as their new manager within the last week. Can he bring a bounce to Merseyside? Given the form of their opponents, we suspect Everton may have to wait at least another week on that front.

Back an Arsenal win at 1.43.

Tottenham vs Manchester City (Sunday 16:30 GMT)

These two sides met even more recently, with Man City coming from 2-0 down at half-time to beat Spurs 4-2 at the Etihad Stadium only 17 days prior to Sunday’s huge clash.

The reigning champions surprisingly let Joao Cancelo join Bayern Munich on deadline day, with the full-back’s breakdown in relationship with his manager deemed untenable.

Spurs have scored against City in six of their last seven league meetings, suggesting the likes of Harry Kane and Son Heung-min can cause Pep Guardiola’s side major problems once again.

However, after dispatching their title rivals Arsenal in the FA Cup last weekend, we think the Citizens can remain within five points of the Gunners at the top of the table. Back Man City to win & BTTS at 3.05.
