End of the road for Antoine Griezmann and Diego Godin in Atletico colours

Levante will host Atletico Madrid as Los Rojiblancos play their final game with star striker Antoine Griezmann who will be leaving at the end of the season. The visitors said goodbye to one legend last weekend with Diego Godin’s stay in the Spanish capital coming to an end. Antoine Griezmann followed suit with the announcement in midweek that he would be leaving the club this summer. These developments have set the stage for the duo’s final game for the club who seem to be closing one era to usher in a new one.

Ernesto Valverde’s last day in charge?

Barcelona have won La Liga and they will want to end their season on a high note when they travel to face Eibar. However, there is not much optimism around the camp right now following on from the humbling defeat at Anfield in the Champions League. That particular result gave rise to rumours that this could be Ernesto Valverde’s final season in charge of the Catalans and it will be interesting to see how it turns out.

Espanyol and Sociedad to battle for Europa League.

Espanyol and Real Sociedad will be hoping to snatch seventh place and qualify for Europa League football next season when they meet in the final day of the La Liga season. Both sides need to win this match to have any chance of moving level on points with Athletic who currently are in the seventh spot.  The two have superior head-to-head records against Gaizka Garitano’s side and this could be a very significant game if Athletic lose at Sevilla. We can expect a very competitive affair and an entertaining one too seeing that nine of their last 11 encounters have seen goals at both ends.

Sevilla and Athletic Bilbao to share the spoils?

Sevilla and Athletic Bilbao will be involved in a final day showdown whose result will have a big impact on who qualifies for Europe. Both Sevilla and Athletic Bilbao have plenty left to play for in terms of the race for Europe. Sevilla have a chance of finishing fourth but that is dependent on results going their way elsewhere for that to happen. Athletic Bilbao would leapfrog Sevilla into sixth with a win but could drop out of the European positions and into eighth if they lose. It is worth noting that events elsewhere could lead to a situation where a draw suits both sides in this match and this is very likely going by the form of the two sides.

Girona to fight for survival

Girona will be hoping for a final day miracle that would save them from relegation when they travel to Alaves. The visitors are in a desperate position heading into this fixture, but they still have a mathematical chance of staying up. However, they will be hoping Rayo Vallecano can get a positive result in their fixture against Celta de Vigo. If Rayo wins then Girona can survive by winning this game whilst overturning the goal difference deficit which currently stands at six goals. Alaves are not in their best form at the moment and Girona might just get lucky to get a result here.
