The final day in the Eredivisie is finally here and Ajax are set to be crowned Champions as PSV make a desperate last-ditch effort to challenge. Here are the things to look out for. Bet on Dutch football here.

Ajax to end a five-year wait for the title

Ajax will most likely be crowned champions unless they suffer an unlikely heavy defeat at De Graafschap and PSV manage a big win in their fixture. They currently have a three-point lead and a much better goal difference and it looks extremely unlikely they can be overtaken tonight. They have had an incredible season domestically and in Europe where they reached the Champions League semi-final before being eliminated by Spurs. We expect them to dominate here and the title could be headed back to Amsterdam for the first time since 2014.

Luuk de Jong for the Golden Boot

PSV saw their title challenge come to an end when they lost to AZ Alkmaar at the weekend. They will host Heracles in their last match and although they can mathematically still win the Eredivisie title, there is very little hope for them. That notwithstanding, Luuk de Jong will be desperate to score, not only in the hopes of reaching the thirty-goal mark, but also to claim the Golden Boot ahead of Ajax’s Dusan Tadic. He has 28 league goals to his name so far and it could only get better here.

Emmen to finish on a high

Emmen have survived their first ever season in the Eredivisie and they will be looking to build upon this excellent achievement in the last day of the season. Their visitors Groningen still have an outside chance of finishing in the top seven, even after such a poor start to their season. However, they managed to string together a number of home wins and a number of clean sheets to finish in the top half of the table. The host could end up with the bragging rights as being the highest finishing newly promoted side if they can match or better Fortuna Sittard’s results in the last day. They have shown that they can rise to the occasion and we should not be surprised should that happen here.

Both Teams to Score and Over 2.5 Goals

Utrecht and Heerenveen could climb or fall places on the final day of the season and therefore we can expect a competitive fixture when they meet later today. Utrecht are targeting to finish in the fifth spot in the table but, they must better Vitesse’s result to do so. Heerenveen for their part also need the points if they are to stand any chance of finishing in the top half of the table. Both teams have scored and Over 2.5 Goals have been produced in the last seven meetings and we are expecting more of the same on Wednesday as both teams still have points and places to fight for.

Advantage Den Haag

Bragging rights will be on the line in when ADO Den Haag and Willem II  go head to head later today. Both sides are set to finish in mid-table but the two are separated by two points. The hosts Den Haag are the form side after a strong finish to their season but Willem just needs a draw to ensure that they don’t fall behind them in the table. The hosts should be able to take advantage of their recent record against Willem II who are struggling and have failed to win any of their last four matches in league or cup.
