Manchester City and Liverpool are still unbeaten in the Premier League and they will both be in action during the weekend. Here are the things to look out for in the English topflight.

Sterling on the verge of history

Manchester City hope to extend their lead in the Premier League when they host Bournemouth on Saturday. Raheem Sterling will be particularly keen to achieve a personal feat against Bournemouth, whom he likes to score against. If he gets his name on the score sheet, he could become the first player in Premier League history to score in his first six appearances against an opponent, having netted in all five of his games for Man City against Bournemouth so far. This is very likely when you consider his tally of six goals and six assists so far in the Premier League since the turn of the season.

United’s awful defence to show cracks

Southampton are desperate to bring an end to their winless run in the league when they host Manchester United. This will be much easier said than done, despite the fact that United are equally having problems of their own. The Saints will want to focus on exploiting the Red Devil’s disorganized defensive play if they are to get anything out of this fixture. Jose Mourinho’s men had one of the best defences last season, but they have already conceded 21 goals this term, more than any other side in the Premier League top 13. This makes it a difficult trip to make and you can anticipate that the home side will try to exploit their questionable defence.

Liverpool to remain unbeaten

Liverpool were beaten in the Champions League during the midweek and they will want to respond with a good result in the Merseyside derby on Sunday against their arch-rivals Everton. Fortunately for the Reds, they have a very good record against their opponents, who are winless in 17 previous visits to Anfield. Considering Liverpool’s fanciful record against Everton, along with the fact that they have kept a clean sheet in ten of their last 11 home Premier League games, we like the look of Liverpool to win as they exert pressure on Manchester City in the title race.

Arsenal to lose unbeaten run?

Arsenal extended their unbeaten run to 18 matches following their 3-0 win away to Vorskla in the Europa League. The Gunners are also unbeaten in their last six home meetings against Tottenham, after winning three. However, they will be facing a Tottenham side that is full of confidence following an impressive last few weeks as well. Mauricio Pochettino’s men won their last two fixtures against Chelsea and Inter Milan and this should give them enough confidence. Whether they can rally to hand Arsenal a defeat on their home ground is an entirely different story but we all reckon that it is not beyond their ability to do that.

Newcastle to keep the momentum

Newcastle will be keen to continue their Premier League resurgence when they play host to West Ham on Saturday. The Magpies looked like a team that had resigned their ambitions of remaining in the top flight as October drew to a close. However, since their 1-0 win at home to Watford, they have not looked back,as their 2-1 win over Burnley ensured they had won three consecutive games. West Ham’s record against Newcastle is very poor. They have lost their last three meetings with their hosts and have won just a single time in their last 14 Premier League visits to St James’ Park. With their confidence and home advantage, they should give the visitors areal hard time here.
