The third round in the new Premier League season will see Arsenal face Liverpool at Anfield, as well as Frank Lampard’s Chelsea’s visit to Norwich. Firmino to continue scoring record against Arsenal
Liverpool and Arsenal are the only two teams that have accumulated maximum points so far. However, that will have to change this weekend as the two face off at Anfield. We can definitely anticipate a high octane match that is likely to see a number of goals. It should not be lost on us that last season’s Golden Boot triple winners will all be in action. Roberto Firmino has eight goals in eight Premier League games against Arsenal, a record for Liverpool’s number 9. If he scores this weekend he will become the first Brazilian to net 50 Premier League goals. He will fancy doing it against the Gunners.
First win for Chelsea?
It was clearly not the start that Frank Lampard anticipated on his first season as Chelsea coach. He is yet to win a competitive match since his return to the club with two draws and a defeat so far. The Blues looked better in the European Super Cup against Liverpool after losing on penalties. Norwich are undefeated at home in all competitions since January, winning eight of 11 games played. The Blues will have to be wary of the threat posed by this team who have shown they are ready to compete in the top flight once again.
More misery for Newcastle
Newcastle had a very interesting summer following the departure of Rafael Benitez and one of their best offensive players Ayoze Perez. The Magpies are yet to taste victory since the season began and they will have a huge task ahead of them this weekend. Steve Bruce has come under immense criticism but he has not found the perfect mix. This is definitely not the best time for them to visit Tottenham. The Magpies have not won any of their last four visits away to Spurs and it is unlikely to happen this weekend. With a fairly apathetic defense, a new manager in place and disgruntled supporters, things are not looking very promising.
Sterling to torment Bournemouth again
Manchester City will travel to the Vitality Stadium to face Bournemouth as they seek to bounce back from last week’s draw against Tottenham. The Citizens are largely considered favorites to win this match and one man to look out for is Raheem Sterling. He has scored ten goals against the Cherries, which is more than he has scored against any other side. We expect him to enhance that phenomenal individual record even further this weekend. The forward has hit the ground running and with him in such scintillating form, Bournemouth will struggle to stop him.
Pogba to bounce back
Manchester United began their season with a 4-0 win against Chelsea in their opening fixture of the season. However they were forced to share the spoils with Wolves on day two as Paul Pogba missed a penalty that should have seen them take all three points. The highlight of that meeting was the penalty miss by Pogba who has been the target of racial abuse as a result of that penalty in social media. That notwithstanding the Frenchman is expected to feature prominently and with his talents he will definitely influence proceedings from midfield for United.
