The 2018/2019 Ligue 1 comes to a close on Friday with all 20 teams in action. PSG have sealed the title but things could get interesting at the bottom of the table. Here are Things to look out for on the final day of Ligue 1. Bet on Ligue 1 here.

Monaco to survive?

Monaco have had a season to forget. They’ve languished in the relegation zone for most parts of the season and it’s still strange to think they won the league title just two seasons ago. However, the sale of their best players has drastically weakened them, making it impossible to compete with the likes of PSG. A point against Nice in their last match of the season will all but secure their Ligue 1 status. They sit 16th with 36 points, three off safety, but have a better goal difference. Monaco might have sealed their Ligue 1 status after a 2-0 over fellow relegation battlers Amiens, who are just two points clear of Caen and will need to win at home to EA Guingamp in their last game to guarantee safety.

Kylian Mbappe Golden Boot

Kylian Mbappe’s stoke has continued to rise spectacularly. In Ligue 1, he’ll definitely finish as the top scorer. He’s already won the Young Player of the Year and given he sits at the top of the goalscoring charts with 32 goals, ten more than the next player, he is set to win his first Golden Boot. His goal scoring exploits has now seen him dubbed as a potential Ballon d’Or winner.  He has scored 59 goals in 86 games for PSG, winning two league titles and one French Cup, but they painfully were knocked out of the Champions League at the last-16 stage by Manchester United.

Lille’s impressive season

Lille have already secured second place in Ligue 1 this season which comes with a place in the Champions League spot to cap off an impressive season. A top-two finish is staggering considering they narrowly avoided relegation last season. Last season they finished in 17th place, avoiding the drop by a single point ahead of Toulouse. This breathtaking season has coincided with the rise of Nicolas Pepe who is their top scorer. When the curtains come down on Friday, they’ll also finish the season with the best defence in the league.

Agonizing end to Marseille campaign

Marseille have endured a rough season. Rudi Garcia missed out on a Europa League spot and the highest they could finish is fifth. They now sit sixth in the table, 11 points adrift of the Champions League places. Marseille finished bottom of their Europa League group this season, claiming just one point from six matches, and suffered an ignominious defeat in the French Cup against fourth division side Andrezieux. This poor season means Garcia will also step down when the season comes to a close. It could also end badly against a Montpellier team they’ve beaten just three times in the last ten Ligue 1 matches. Marseille have suffered two defeats in their last five matches and would want to get this done and dusted.
