TOP 5 BETS FOR THE WEEKEND: FEBRUARY 22-24

Our writers and football experts have looked through the stats and odds to come up with this weekend’s Top 5 Bets. Bet on football here.

Southampton v Aston Villa – Both Teams To Score – 1.65

This is an important game in the context of the Premier League relegation scrap. Both teams are out of the bottom three but lost their last games. Three points is hard to predict but Both Teams to Score should be safe. It’s been a winning bet in three of Southampton’s last five games and all of Villa’s last five. The game at Villa Park earlier in the season between these two ended 3-1 to the Saints. This fixture historically has goals. The last six had both teams on the scoresheet.

Sheffield United v Brighton – Home Win – 1.95

The odds on this look too high for me. The Blades are 12 points ahead of Brighton in the table and have won three of their last five home games. The only defeat in that time came to Manchester City. The Seagulls meanwhile are without a win since December and have lost three of their past five away from the Amex. Get these odds whilst they’re still big and beautiful!

Marseille v Nantes – Home Win – 1.75

Three wins in a row in Ligue 1 and four out of five at home, means Marseille are the heavy favourites here. They’re second only to the might of PSG in France, whilst Nantes are 12th. Les Canaris have not won in five and have lost three of those games. I have to back Andre Villas-Boas and his charges here.

Lille v Toulouse – Clean Sheet Home Team Yes – 1.80

Toulouse are set to end their 17 year stay in France’s top-flight. They’re bottom of Ligue 1, 13 points behind the relegation play-off place. Lille meanwhile are pushing for a Champions League place and should be confident of winning comfortably. They have won three of their last five at home. The other two were against PSG and Lyon. Toulouse have failed to score in 48% of their Ligue 1 games and haven’t found the back of the net in their last five.

Liverpool v West Ham – Home Score Both Halves Yes – 1.60

This Premier League battle looks like a mismatch. Liverpool are well on their way to the title whilst West Ham are in the relegation zone. The Reds have scored in both halves in 54% of their league games, which unsurprisingly is the best record in the league. It has happened in three of their last five games, which includes a victory over the Hammers. West Ham have lost three of their last five Premier League matches. They conceded in both halves in all of those matches.
