Burnley and Southampton were the big winners this weekend in the Premier League while Brighton and Chelsea were the losers. You can bet on the Premier League here.

Winners

Burnley & Southampton

These two relegation-threatened teams registered important wins over the weekend to give themselves a chance of survival in the Premier League. Burnley defeated 18th-placed Cardiff City 2-0 at home, inflicting a third defeat in a row to the Bluebirds. The Clarets are now 11 points clear of Cardiff, which practically secures their status in the top flight. The Saints, meanwhile, defeated Wolves 3-1 at home to move eight points clear of the relegation zone. With just fewer than six matches to go, these two look like they’ll be in the league next season.

Lucas Moura

Tottenham Hotspur thrashed Huddersfield 4-0 on Saturday to solidify their top four hopes. With no Harry Kane, Spurs looked to the likes of Lucas Moura to provide the goals. He did not disappoint. He scored a clinical hat-trick, the first in their new stadium. His confidence will definitely improve after this five-star performance and should come in handy in the remaining games of the season given the injury to their main man Kane.

Mohammed Salah

Mohammed Salah produced a man of the match performance when he scored Liverpool’s second goal, an emphatic 25-yard strike, to secure three points against Chelsea at Anfield. This was Salah’s 19th goal of the season, putting him level on top of the goalscoring charts alongside Man City’s Sergio Aguero. His goals will play an important role in the title race with just four games left to play.

Losers

Brighton and Cardiff

Brighton and Cardiff suffered humiliating losses which dealt them both a huge blow in their quest for Premier League survival. Brighton were on the end of a 5-0 drubbing from Bournemouth at home which leaves them just five points off safety. Cardiff suffered their sixth defeat in seven matches when they lost 2-0 away to Burnley. Cardiff can definitely still stay up but time is running out for them. Brighton however, have two games in hand which could still go either way. The two teams meet on Tuesday.

Chelsea

Despite their solid record at Anfield, the Blues suffered another painful defeat away from home. They have now lost seven away games this season. The loss dents their hopes of reaching next season’s Champions League although they could still qualify via the Europa League. Still, that was another dismal showing from the Blues.

Marco Silva and Everton

Relegated Fulham ended a run of nine straight defeats by beating Everton 2-0 at Craven Cottage. Everton were on a run of three successive wins without conceding a goal and were looking to resuscitate their hopes of qualifying for the Europa League. Furthermore, the Toffees’ last three victories had included home wins over Chelsea and Arsenal, making this an embarrassing result.
